If a fall Walt Disney World trip is on your radar and you're staying somewhere that qualifies for Extended Evening Hours, take note: Magic Kingdom is about to lose its Wednesday-night edition of the perk, and Disney's Hollywood Studios is stepping in. Disney's posted park hours now show Extended Evening Hours at Hollywood Studios on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 9 to 11 PM — in place of Magic Kingdom's usual Wednesday slot.

What's confirmed — and what's just expected

Only the near-term dates are official so far, so here's the honest split:

That second part is precedent, not a promise — Disney only posts its calendar a few weeks out, so treat anything past September 16 as likely-but-unconfirmed until it appears officially.

Why it's happening

This is a seasonal shuffle, not a permanent change. Magic Kingdom's fall calendar fills up with Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (and later Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party), and Hollywood Studios runs its own After Hours events on many Wednesdays — so Extended Evening Hours gets bumped to whichever park is free. It plays out just about every year around party season.

Why this might actually be an upgrade

Losing Magic Kingdom sounds like a downgrade, but Hollywood Studios is arguably the better park for late-night touring. Its headliners sit close together, so a two-hour window can clear a genuinely impressive list with minimal waits — and you skip the daytime heat entirely. The confirmed attraction roster for Extended Evening Hours at Hollywood Studios includes:

One notable omission: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is not on the list, so don't count on the resort's biggest headliner during these particular hours.

Two quiet hours with Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at near-walk-on waits — after a hot September day, that's hardly a consolation prize.

Who actually gets it

Extended Evening Hours is the pickier of Disney's two hotel perks. Unlike Early Entry — available to every on-site guest, every morning — evening hours are limited to guests at Deluxe Resorts, Disney Vacation Club Villas, and a handful of others, notably the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Value and Moderate resort guests are not eligible. One tip if you're a points person: renting DVC points or booking the Swan or Dolphin can qualify you for the perk at a lower nightly rate than a cash Deluxe stay.

What to do

If you're planning a fall trip, don't build your itinerary around a late Magic Kingdom Wednesday between mid-September and early January — assume it's moving. Check Disney's official calendar or the My Disney Experience app as your dates get posted (they're added on a rolling basis). For now, September 16 at Hollywood Studios is the only date locked in.

Details accurate as of July 8, 2026. Only dates through September 16 appear on Disney's official calendar; later dates reflect Disney's typical seasonal pattern and are subject to confirmation.
