A small but telling update from Disney's next resort: the two pools planned for Disney's Lakeshore Lodge have quietly been renamed. Disney didn't announce the change or explain it — the new names simply appeared in the Disney Parks Blog's ongoing "Letters from Lakeshore" updates. If you're tracking this resort ahead of its 2027 opening, here's what changed.
The two new names
- Lakeside Lagoon → Lakeshore Lagoon. The resort's main feature pool — a zero-entry pool at the heart of The Wetlands recreation complex, with a spiral waterslide and room for all ages — gets a one-word tweak. It's a minor change, and an easy one to read: "Lakeshore Lagoon" simply lines up with the "Lakeshore Lodge" resort name. (A telling detail: the concept-art filename on Disney's own blog still says "Lakeside," suggesting the original may have just been an inconsistency Disney tidied up.)
- Perspective Pond → Cypress Point. This one's a bigger departure. The quieter, "tucked away" leisure pool and whirlpool spa on the far side of the resort gets an entirely new name. Its selling point is unchanged: the area is expected to offer views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, making it the relaxed alternative to the busier Lakeshore Lagoon.
Two pool names isn't earth-shattering — but it's the kind of quiet pre-opening tweak that tells you Disney is actively refining this resort, not just letting it sit on paper.
About Disney's Lakeshore Lodge
Lakeshore Lodge has one of the longer backstories of any upcoming Disney resort. It was first announced back in 2018 as Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, then stalled during the pandemic and was widely assumed canceled. Disney revived it, and officially re-announced it in 2024 under the Lakeshore Lodge name — a Disney Vacation Club resort on the Bay Lake site near Fort Wilderness, themed around, in Disney's words, the majesty of nature and its influence on Disney artists. It's currently slated to open in summer 2027.
It's also connected to news we covered recently: Fort Wilderness next door has been getting upgrades and refreshes, partly in anticipation of Lakeshore Lodge's arrival. The whole corner of the resort is being reworked.
Details accurate as of July 15, 2026. Names and details for Lakeshore Lodge are pre-opening and subject to change before the resort debuts in 2027.
