At D23 2026, Disney confirmed that the world of Monsters, Inc. is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a new land: Monstropolis. It takes over the corner of the park that’s been home to MuppetVision, and it’s arriving in phases across 2027. Here’s everything Disney confirmed.

Making Way for the Monsters

Monstropolis moves into the space MuppetVision 3D has occupied for decades — a bittersweet swap for longtime Muppets fans, but a full transformation of that corner of the park into the Monsters, Inc. factory town. Disney is opening the land in stages through 2027 rather than all at once, so expect it to fill in over time.

The Ride

The headliner is a roller coaster built around the factory’s door vault — riders zip between doors the way Mike and Sulley do in the movie. One thing to know up front: the coaster won’t open with the rest of the land. Disney confirmed it arrives in a later phase, so early visitors will get the shops, dining, and show before the ride comes online. No height requirement has been published yet.

The Show: “Welcome to Monstropolis”

Replacing MuppetVision 3D is a brand-new show called “Welcome to Monstropolis,” staged in the newly named Glob Theater and hosted by Mike and Sulley. A nice touch for film fans: Randy Newman — the composer behind the Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. scores — wrote the show’s title song. Disney says it’s the first song he’s written specifically for a Disney theme park.

Where to Eat

Two venues are confirmed. Harryhausen’s — the upscale restaurant from the film — comes to life as a table-service spot headlined by an animatronic, multi-tentacled sushi chef, with a menu Disney teased as unlike anything currently at Walt Disney World. For a quicker bite, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is the land’s quick-service option.

What’s Still Unknown

The exact phasing timeline and opening dates haven’t been announced, and neither has the coaster’s final name or height requirement. As with everything revealed this early, details will keep shifting between now and opening — we’ll keep this piece updated as Disney confirms them.
