If your August trip includes a favorite resort restaurant, check your dining plans before you fly — three of them are dark for some or all of the month, per Disney's own refurbishment notices. The freshest: Grand Floridian Café closed its doors yesterday, July 20, with construction walls already up, kicking off a refurbishment Disney lists as running through October. It's part of the resort's multi-year refresh that already delivered the new lobby and the Perch lounge, with exterior work continuing into early 2027. One useful wrinkle: brunch isn't going away — it temporarily moves to Cítricos, which means Cítricos is absorbing the entire morning crowd on top of its normal dinner business. If brunch there is on your list, book as early as your window allows.
Over at Saratoga Springs, The Turf Club Bar & Grill hits the least convenient stretch of its phased refurbishment: from late August through late September, the full-service restaurant closes completely — the only part of the project when you can't dine at the Turf Club at all. The consolation is real, though: The Turf Club Lounge, which spent early summer closed for its own refresh, reopens during that same window, so there's still a drink and a bite on site. Beyond that, Disney Springs is a short walk or boat ride away.
The Quiet Reopening Signal at Yacht Club
Yachtsman Steakhouse has been closed since mid-May, and Disney's page still reads "closed for refurbishment now through August 2026." But two things quietly appeared on Disney's own site: operating hours (dinner, 5:00–9:30 p.m.) starting August 28, and dining reservations bookable from that date forward. Disney hasn't announced a reopening date — but Disney doesn't open the books for a restaurant it doesn't plan to run. Read August 28 as the target, written in pencil: refurbishment dates move (ask the Polynesian), so if you grab a first-week reservation, treat it as slightly provisional and keep an eye on it. What the refurbishment actually changed — décor, menu, or both — is still unannounced; the last one, in 2021, redid both.
Grand Floridian Café is closed through October (brunch moves to Cítricos), the Turf Club goes fully dark late August to late September, and Yachtsman's reservations quietly opened for August 28.
What We Know (and Don't)
Confirmed via Disney's notices and booking system: all three closures and their windows, the Cítricos brunch move, the Turf Club Lounge reopening during the restaurant's dark stretch, and Yachtsman's August 28 hours and reservation availability. Still open: a formal reopening announcement for Yachtsman (August 28 is a strong signal, not a promise), what its refurbishment includes, and — as always with refurbishment windows — whether any of these dates move. If your trip brushes against one of these windows, re-check close to your dates.
